Core Values
Gantry View School guides its students to contribute positively to the world around them, and to be part of something that is broader than themselves. Through our low student-teacher ratio and a rigorous program of individualized and collaborative learning, GVS students achieve academic fluency and conceptual understanding that can be applied to meet a wide variety of educational goals. They grow into self-motivated problem solvers who honor the diversity within themselves, among their peers, and in the world at large.
What Informs Our Thinking
Building a student’s identity as a learner requires ongoing recognition of their progress and specific, targeted ways for them to improve.
Skill building, content knowledge, and application require a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure that each student learns at their best pace and receives targeted feedback.
Modalities that maximize learning—explicit teaching, modeling, contextualized learning, active responding, repetition, and other research-based methods—are key elements of our program.
Students must feel safe to express their burgeoning individuality, as composed of race, ethnicity, gender, family structure, and/or religion and other belief systems. Awareness of academic strengths and challenges must also be part of interpersonal understanding and the respectful exchange of points of view.
