Overview

Gantry View School is an independent K-5 school that implements widely accepted tenets of educational theory and current research pertaining to how children learn best. Through our very low student-teacher ratio (avg. 6:1), we focus on students’ academic and personal development, resulting in competent, confident learners.

Gantry View School continues the work of Queens Paideia School, which was founded in 2009 by a group of educators and parents who shared the concern that traditional classrooms, with their high student-teacher ratios and limited methodology, cannot accommodate the needs or consider the true potential of most children. Gantry View School is a destination for parents who seek academic rigor, emphasis on the “whole child,” and greater involvement in their children’s education.

Gantry View School is building a community of inclusivity, one that honors the diversity of our students and their families. We encourage the exploration of identity, as forged by race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic background, family structure, and religion and other belief systems, as well as by a student’s academic strengths and challenges. Students must feel safe and free to express their burgeoning individuality while feeling part of something larger than themselves. 

We strive to attract staff and families who contribute to the diversity of our community, and we continually broaden our curriculum to incorporate issues around social justice, cultural understanding, and the respectful exchange of points of view.
